Why does this layout look OK in Mozilla but shite in IE6??
Is it just one of those things that humans are not meant to find out??

Try floating the div right.
.boxsshabot {
float: right;
}

That girl-on-a-rock header graphic is just a placeholder, right?

The way you have your doctype, IE will run in "Quirks mode."
Remove the:
and see what happens. Often fixes many issues.

(Nov 12 06, 12:01)more on this please? your code didn't show up...

watch out the paddings... I often use a div with margins as a child of the "bordered" main divs in order to look like a padding.

the
xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"
in the top of your document might cause ie6 to go into quirks mode...
try enclosing that with
check newstoday source to see what I mean if this doesn't show up.
probably have some float issues too...
- skelly0
thanks, IRN. never heard of that. good to know.

What's wrong with the design?? i think it's crisp, clean and going in the right direction...
The domain name is obviously temporary.
Don't understand the IE quirk comments...

what is this with threads that are posted and the guy starting it never responds again? are we jsut talking to ourselves here?
:)

Hello Mr Crouwel,
My humble apologies - I asked this last night before (Swedish) bed time, and then have been in meetings all day.
Plus, to be fair, the answers have been rubbish...
Just kidding.
BUt I still don't know what the person above meant by the IE quirk, every time he says "Add this:" There is Nothing there to add!!!
Wish I could fix this.Incidentally, the design isn't finished, and it'll be way cool when it is. And the URL is blatantly a temporary / testing URL.

If we type the code in full it gets removed from the message (security reasons gainst potential malicious code) so that is why you can't see it.
Quirks mode is important to understand and I am surprised every web designer isn't aware. Rather go over it here, do a simple search on Google for "quirks mode" or IE quirks mode." Easy enough to do:
