Any tips on making one would be much sort after, thanks.

sixhundred-odd pixels wide normally.
make sure it starts with "you are receiving this email because you haev signed up for XXX mailing list"
(this stops the user clicking it as spam as they realise what the email is straight-off and you/client wont be spam blacklisted)legally you have to have an unsubscribe link somewhere, usually on the footer.
remember that some email clients will block images so make sure your design breaks down to code-only gracefully and people will still get all the info.
