so when adobe finally releases cs3 for the intel based macs, will it run well on older/non-intel based macs or will we all be forced to ugrade to intel based hardware?
- trevedda0
my guess is sooner or later the upgrade devil will appear. It was like that with OS9 to OSX

Probably not there's a lot of rumors of CS3 being released as a universal binary application group. So I doubt they would support the older shipsets.
- Mimio0
whoops..^ "chipsets"

the whole reason for adobe taking a decade and a half to come out with CS3 is that they had to rewrite everything in Xcode, which, once done, will be able to produce a univeral binary.

is acrobat 8 pro a free upgrade from cs2 premium?

mimio, universal applications are developed to run on both ppc and intel macs, unless i misunderstood what you were saying. ppc macs should be fine for years. by the time developement has ceased, software will have far surpassed what those machines are capable of.

You're right, it's supposed to. I just have my doubts about performance being equal.

Of course the performance won't be equal.

(Nov 9 06, 10:07)no CS-2 acrobat was v7.
acrobat 8 is the first of the CS3 family, so its an $ upgrade, and also shipping with the macromedia stuff in CS 2.3 until the complete CS3 package is complete.
weird i know.
