WTF?! I graduated from USU back in 1997! Holy shit! HAHAHA, if you see Alan Hashimoto, tell him Greg Stenson said hello... well, if you feel like!
Man, that's awesome, I remember when I saw that guy from Modern Dog (Mike?) in a lecture series there when I was in school.
Hope all goes well up there tonight man. Wish I could have attended.

I just got back from the lecture. Joshua killed it. He had the crowd rolling in laughter in the first 30 seconds. hahaha. he's a great speaker.
can't wait for the workshop tomorrow.
- Point50
seriously, that is absolutely fantastic. If I had known that it was goin down like that in the ol' Cache Valley this week, I would have put in an effort to travel the however many hundreds of miles and made a 3 day weekend out of it.

umm...i was born in Logan. didn't know there was a design community back home.
my parents met a USU, this is all kinda wierd.
whats the workshop on? is ShopCo still there?
- logan0
Yup. ShopKo is still open even though they are about to build Wal Mart #2. Logan is growing up.
It's a 2-day workshop. He'll be teaching us how he makes his art maiking machines.

Hey point5. I talk to Alan all the time. I'll tell him you said hello. He's on leave for one year but he should be back for next.

pretty and nice website

I'm an alum as well.
Old School though- Jon Anderson and Glen Edwwards era. I know Alan and remember him taking over there years ago. Good to hear from a few USU'ers out there.
Go Aggies!
- Point50
allterrain, I attended USU in that same era; or at the end of that era rather, right when Anderson and Edwards were getting ready to retire. Jon always talking about how the guy that came up with the "This is your brain on drugs" campaign was his student, and Glen with those awesome series of wild west paintings. Hell, I remember being floored when I found out that Alan did the airbrush work on some of those old school Atari video game covers.
I'll have to admit, I had a great time up there at USU. It was a huge shock considering I grew up in Vegas and went to JuCo in Cali. The art department when I was there was wonderful, and from the looks of things, it appears that it's still doin pretty well. My only regret is that I didn't stay an extra year to get my Illustration degree after Glen asked me to to. I thought it was more important to run off into the real world with my design degree and work work work... obviously, I was wrong!
Big ups USU! And logan, please do holler at Alan for me next time you see him. I'm planning on coming up there in about a year to catch a ball game and meet up with Alan anyway, so I'll definitely post here in NT before I do and try to catch up with some of ya'll now that I know I gots some NT fam up there!

My older bro went to school there. I have fond memories of breaking into the tunnels under the campus, spending entire nights exploring Logan cave (now closed) and a beer bar called the White Owl. If I remember correctly, the White Owl was my very first bar, I think I was 16 with a fake ID.
Good times to visit, but god I can't imagine living there. The mormons in Logan are particularly fierce.

I've been away for a long time. I met my wife there- True Aggie!
I still keep up with a few old classmates and have a lot of great memories. Logan is really "getting big" compared to the old days.
I heard the same story from Jon and that guy came up as a guest artist once. I was a dual design/illustrator too and ended up graduating on Glen's side, but got hired by Apple right out of school as an art director.
I went back for Glen's retirement party.

really cool meeting up with some USU alumni here on NT. I never did the duty on the "A" on Old Main Hill to become a true Aggie, but hell, I did my last 3 years of college there, played ball, learned a hell of a lot about design and overall enjoyed my stint up there. And yes fortified, the LDS presence up there is definitely in force, but it comes with the territory and you get used to it, you live with it, you ignore it whatever. I met some really good people up there regardless... but that being said, I wouldn't dream of going back to live there!
btw- that bar was the White Owl. Many a beer has been drank there my friend!
- allterrain0
3 USU grads here at my shop and another that just left.
Cold winters but very good times up there. I'm pretty sure the White Owl is still around. Cited a couple of times for serving to minors over the years... :)

go aggies. NYC now.
