Can anyone tell me why Windows Media files will not play through Safari or Firefox on my MacBook Pro? Safari just has a blank icon and Firefox says "Windows Media Player is not installed or was not correctly registered as a plug-in."
I've tried reinstalled countless times but nothing works. Could this be the same reason my basic Quicktime movies (.mov) will not play in Quicktime Pro?

I've got VLC, which is great for converting WMP to Quicktime but I need something for viewing Windows media in my browser.
I've had Flip4Mac twice before and uninstalled it twice - found it to be a pain in the arse, even though i can't remember why now. Suppose I could try it one more time until Microsoft sort out the piece of shiat that is WMP9.
I had problems before in playing saved WMVs from my gard drive. The problem? My hard drive had a non-standard character in it's name. I mean, how ridiculous is that? I had to rename my HD in order to play them. Pfffft.

WMP Classic

is my favourite. Although it's probably not as good as VLC according to other people, I think it's one of the best. One major problem I have with VLC is that you can't put the window in full-screen and have the film screen maintain the original screen size it was at when you first opened it in the non-maximized window. What I mean is that I prefer that black space around the screen so that I'm not distracted by anything in the background. And I don't want the size of the film screen to get larger too, so I use WMP Classic instead of VLC.
But you need VLC to play certain types of files (like those .cue and .bin ones), so I have both.
