v important - keyword rich domains are the gold of the domaining industry for that very reason!

I always look at SEO stuff as a bit like the dark arts. Have you got any resources on it, I wouldn't mind reading up on it?
- mpfree0
8 / 10. Not 100% important, but it's up there. The content on your pages, organically picked up is more important. Think where you're linked.
shit I should start a site called thinkwhereyourelinked.com

alrighty, thanks guys

i'll post a few doc's if you want to read up on it, but the best thing to do is get your hands dirty with Google Analytics and compare and contract the stats that you receive, over time mind you, with other analytical packages like WebTrends, ClickTracks, etc. See what works and doesn't. It's not an exact science.

I agree with ^ that quality inbound links and unique page content with symantic mark up is more important - but a keyword rich domain is a good way to hit the ground running
- mpfree0
yes, Google Blogs from Google itself are very helpful. nice call
Have you seen this dandy little external link tracking tool?

search operators on google and yahoo also let you see a. which of yr pages are in the engine and 2. inbound links to your site.
1. "site:www.yourdomain.com"
2."link:www.yourdomain.com"use these on the engines to reveal some info about yr site. (Google is quite protective on showing inbound links - so yahoo shows a more realistic figure) good luck - its hard work!

I can say that I have no problem seeing the tracking behind the campaigns we run. Using that Link Tracking Tool allows you to see them in your Campaign Targeting drop-down area in GA. Not sure about Yahoo info. Neglegible really, imo. Still use two or three commercial packages as well. Have you seen CrazyEgg? http://www.crazyegg.com imo, a better heat map mechanism

yahoo might be a smaller percentage of the search market than google but with the market being so large - yahoo is definately still worth the effort (what I really meant in my post above is that yahoo will show you the "real" number of incoming links with google being just a fraction of the actual amount)

IMO the page title tags are the most important, followed by content, followed by whiz-bang graphics.

Get tested for $50.00 and become a Google AdWords Professional. That certification is golden these days. Side clients alone, pays me ~ $750 USD extra per month in managing BS AdWords campaigns for external clients. Cake.
However, mind you, you will have to have managed at least $25K USD in Adword campaigns in the past.

tags
There are SEO implications with having too many H2 tags. There should really only ever be 5-7 H2 tags on the page. Any more and you start running the risk of being viewed as SEO Spam by the search engines. Even if you don't get classified as SPAM, you are diluting the content that you are actually optimizing for.
