Anyone from Canada went to work in the US under a TN VISA?
How much documentation do they need at the border and how rigorously do they go through it?

I haven't personally, (in the progress now) however you need to have the following:
- passport
- transcript w/ diploma or degree
- letter of employment from employer
- CV
- at least 3 years professional experience in your field

Say a company is allowing candidates to take a test online in Canada, doesn't the test have to be available in English AND French?There are two official languages, so either or without the other wouldn't be legal, correct?

Oficially yes, especially if they are allowing the province of Quebec to participate in it.
