What sucks... I'm in the middle of re-designing another portfolio of mine and part of me wants to do it in the fastest way possible. Either tables and frames and whatnot or Wordpress just to get the thing done.
The other side of me says that for some reason, I must do it in CSS, AJAX and lightbox cause I don't want to catch shit for cutting corners.
His site is in frames. I've seen a few portfolios in all tables lately. I'm so torn and pissed that he's so good he could basically put blue underlined links on his site using straight html and he'd still get nike.

k0na - funny you mention that. sometimes i wish i actually knew more than the most basic of basic html. if i wanted good css, ajax, or flash, i'd literally have no choice but to hire someone else to do it.
i feel very limited sometimes when it comes to my site designs, but i just do my best with what i know to try and make it work. i figure, everyone can use frames, i made it pretty optimal for 1024x768, and itll be speedy to make, update, and use...
anyways... thanks for the comments. could this actually turn into an interesting discussion for once?!

nopattern. I hear ya man. I know more than the basics of the stuff but damnit I just want to do it to get it done and out of my hair ya know. It's frustrating cause I don't know all the details of CSS and I know i'm going to have a hard time getting it all to work cross browser.
Anyways, you did well with what you had available ya know. Well done.

Haha yea kOna, it's weird I know the CSS/Layout crap but I've taken such a turn from doing that and programming that I've gotten so far away from actually designing anything that all the time left I have to do with what I want to do, I can only doodle away and draw on paper, haha.
The past few months have been brewing up inside me quite intensely here at work. :X

I might just put a basic HTML CSS site up to get it up.
Then spend some time nights and weekends in my spare time to re-do it the right way.
Fuck I'm lazy. To do it with my personal stuff... cool... at work it's a different story. Maybe I'm just so turned off by CSS and AJAX right now is because I've been dicking with this web app here at work for 2 months now and I'm so done with it. :)

Eh, for most personal/portfolio sites AJAX isn't needed at all.
And as always, the work itself should stand on its own.

my thing is...i'm an artist. not a web designer... so i think the stripped down html allows for my work to stand out and not let the site get in the way.
if youre a web designer, go all out and have a brilliant site...but if your work is what needs to shine, keep the site out of the way
