    Hey guys,

I'm trying to scan a bunch of book covers into a slide-show type arrangement for my dad's shop, and the book covers scan in fine with the exception of the reflective gold-coloured areas, which comes up like black speckles. I have a Canon LiDE500F and using PS CS2.

Can anyone suggest an alternative, or a way of telling the scanner to behave?
I could take a photo of the book, but that's a far more laborious process when you're talking about 100+ books.

    Here's an example:

The author name, and the logo down in the bottom right are meant to be reflective gold.

    Thanks for any hints!

Ive had this same problem, do you have the tools to photograph the ones w/ gold ?

Yeah, i have a light tent, and a semi-decent digi-cam... looks like i might have to use it :(

I'm walking around the shop, and i'm amazed at how many books have got the gold-print on the front cover... I remember from getting flyers printed once that metallic ink costs a shitload more to print...
