Can someone tell me the viewable area in a 1024x768 web page? In other words, what size do you design your comps?
I can't find any info other than debates on what you should use and stats on who has what.

THis is for http://www.disney.com and their specs only specify a width of 994 but nothing in height.

For 1024x768 the standard viewable, maximized area is:
955px x 600px
You can also see this if you open a window in Dreamweaver's design view and select a resolution in the bottom-right of the window - note, the option is not selectable if the document window is maximized.

the standard at my job for 1024x768 is 940x615.
This is the viewable area with all of the options open on a pc.

I find the notion of a "standard" viewable area to be a little silly. Sure, I get it, but with so many different display options there is no "standard" browser size so it's all just guess work anyway. Gotta just go with what you *think* is best.
That said, I don't know off hand the dimensions I use. I typically just trust xScope. :\
