I'm looking for something that let's you make houses and rooms fast and easy in 3D. Ideally, the rendering should be pretty simple.
Is 3D Home architect good?

Are you saying it's the fastest or are you just helping me out by suggesting another app? Because looking at Sketchup, you can't even import other sketchup objects into new scenes. I tried merging a downloaded building with a downloaded car and I couldn't.

That was actually just a joke.

Man, I'm already a master at 3D Max, XSI and Maya. All I want is something cheap and quick with premade free models to make up pretty house plans fast for my own personal use. I am not going to the Nobel Prize of Achievement Award.

i'm an arch student and i use sketchup 5 pro daily - its easy and renders okay...
super-fast. i don't use it for nice renderings or final 3d models, but it's great to just get ideas on paper very quickly.

if you are already a master at 3d max, why don't you just use that and download premade house, plants, cars, whatever?
doing a house is easy compare to doing complex NURB models.

Can you import stuff in SPro or is SPro the same thing as the free version?

I second sketup... just recently discovered it and it is dope!
I've been using 3ds max for about 9 years now..... I was blown away by sketups ease and speed... completely new way od modeling that works great imo.An architect next door LIVES off of sketchup... does all his arch work thru it....its NUTS!
The renderer is kinda lame though... but you can export a model and reimport into max or whatever.

i just saw that sketup lets you import dxf and dwg.
