Like Martin Luther King said ... "I have a dream! ...." , or rather "I HAD a dream" ...
I had a dream last night that made me wake up this morning wanting to buy a video ipod (until i realised the following was just a dream).
In the dream, Ableton had released a simplified iPod version of their software that allowed you to do performances and tweak things 'on the fly' just using your ipod and nothing more.
how sh*t hot would that be?!?!
means you could put on a gig anywhere/anytime!dont see why this couldnt happen one day. i guess its a processor thats needed though to deal with the effects etc that the ipod doesnt have.
nice thought though, eh

great idea, dont be surprised when you actually see something like this in the near future.
- THA0
very kool idea. i could see it happening one day.

i emailed Ableton with the idea.
im going to put some time aside soon to try get into that program rather than using cubaseSX

not gonna happen.
Apple would do it first or buy out Ableton. lol
- 23kon0
but if they did it themselves or bought out ableton so they could do it on ipods ... then surely it WOULD be happening? :P
- mpfree0
someone already thought of it.
Apple is probably already on it, considering they own Garageband and Sountrack. It's the concept of bending and breaking audio waves more than anything. Ableton's tool is unique, doesn't mean they'll be the only ones with that unique functionality in years to come. Others already provide it to an extent

garageband really isnt a creative tool though is it. its a sequencer for other peoples creative work.
i like abletons style :)
nice product, nice site, good support, down to earth spiel on their site

thats just midi though mimio
you'd have to have instruments to take along to play the stuff.im talking VST instruments ON your ipod!

(Oct 27 06, 07:59)you can write your own stuff as well as use loops, so, no, it's not just a sequencer for other people's creative work. in fact, since a lot of people just import a bunch of loops and fuck with them in ableton live, you could say that is more a tool for using and abusing other peoples creative work.
anyway, logic destroys all of them.
- Mimio0
No it's not just MIDI. It has a sound bank and basic effects editing.
- mpfree0
acescence, hahaha you're right ;)

acescence, aint logic just for mac?
im on pc.i use cubase at the moment but im looking for a platform that will allow me to create music and play live too. cubase isnt stable enough for this on playback.
ableton lets you playback and tweak stuff on the fly ... thats why im thinkin of choosing it and going down that route ... or rather than buying hardware etc.
- acescence0
yeah, logic is just on mac. on PC i think ableton is superior to cubase. it's a shame cubase really fell off, they were the shit for years.

23kon, yes for live performance Ableton Live! is more effecient, but you failed to mention that fact. Ableton is by no means the best sequencer out there. It just allows you to pitch shift and tweak your audio in a different manner. Logic, Cubase, Nuendo, Garageband and even Acid does a very good job. Most of them do the same things, just a matter of ease of use. You can do the same type of wav bending using ReCycle! from Propellerheads, the designer of Reason.

ive spoken to a guy that runs a professional recording studio (for radio and voiceovers etc) the guy used to be a recording dance music artist years ago.
he'd said id be better sticking to cubase for creating the music in as it has a better sound quality or sampling rate than ableton.
but gfor playing live he said ableton would be a good solution.ive used cubase for years. and ive learnt everything through trial and error and not erading manuals.
ableton is compleeeetely different to cubase and it kinda scared me when i first looked at it - like when you first open Flash lol.
ive got a few web projects on the go to finish off in my personal time then im gonna hit ableton head-on soon
