Can anyone recommend a cart software from personal experience. The considerations I have are:
1) needs to be easy (not too time consuming) to setup.
2) easily updatable by the client
3) No large monthly feesDo you think ZenCart is a good option for this if you have you own merchant account and gateway?

Also the less 'disconnect' from the main site the better.
Anyone used Mals-e?

That looks interesting. I just realized Mals-e doesn't allow you to update products like a CMS. You just add Buy Now links in your pages.

This looks good for the needs I mentioned:

I've used this a few times - does the trick, one time fee and easy to setup & customize

You can look into these as well:

Just bouncing this, I'm in a similar situation...any thoughts? Needs to customisable, free or nearly free, easy to add, remove and change stock.....

set up, and both creted a template and downloaded a template for zen carts.
Can't say I'd recomend, its hard, well slow, work to sort everything out to not look like 100 other zen carts - or so I found. The template was even worse as while the one page worked fine all many of the other pages did,t and had to be re-edited anyway.
Seems to be one of those 'holy grail' type things a decent, simple and easy theme shop?

I used this before. You can customize pretty well witin their templates etc. There are also alot of mods in the forums.
free to use with copyright in place or you can buy it for $70.

have used it for years, don't mind paying the small amount for a credible solution

I'm looking for something as well. Shopify looks super tight and clean.. they've done their homework to look fresh unlike Zencart, which does well BTW.
Watching the "see it in action" clip on their site, the editor writes inline "sold out". I assume it doesn't do any inventory tracking which is unfortunate. I don't want to have to keep up with all that. Anyone say different?

not done with this yet, but it's done with ZenCart: http://intermission.sequence01.c…

Just bouncing this. I have used Zencart, it's very hard to organise everything because it's a huge and very slow program.
It takes years to load and is faster just to use html to do everything manually! Here's the site, not finished or launched but just so you can see how it works. http://www.caferoyal.org/groceri…So I'm still looking fro another option, any other suggestions? I just need something easy to design, easy to update products etc and easy to use. Zen is far too much and there are no options to remove features.

anyone have any luck w/ http://oscommerce.com

I've heard that's slow too? I'd like something small that allows you to add multiple images per item that is as fast as a standard site! Why does no one make this!!

How about PayPal? It's free. I used it for this site:
