AE Noob Question

This is lame. But i need to know how to crop out a section of an imported movie in After Effects and I cant figure it out for the life of me. Anyone help? I cant even find a friggin support toot on it...

do you mean you want to mask it? use the rectangular mask tool in the tool palette

yeah just add a mask to the layer

or use a extra layer and alpha mask the movie..

so i have a 10 minute clip. I want the first 2 minutes and the last 3 minutes. The best thing to do is mask out the middle 5 minutes?

no
just click on the layer press shift apple D and your teamlin will dive up in 2 parts..do the same at end where you want continue..than
you actualy have 3 layers..throw the middle one away and slide them toghter..voila...
