im thinking of starting a small site to try and sell prints, photos and possibly other items. What kinda things do i need to know, im a student so do i need to declare it as a business..or even regester it as a business? How do i go about creating a system to alert me of an order?
anyone had some experience with this? cheers guys

thanks for the links...so lets say i have a portfolio site and i want to maybe sell some of my work or prints from it i would need to register it as a proper full business?

if you want to start the design store website then you'll need to register it as a business.
check out your local business enterprise centre as seeing as you are young you might get some free startup cash. if you are in scotland and uner 30 you get a £1000.if you are a student with a portfolio site and want to sell some of your wares then you should be able to get away with a standard paypal account and sell a few things no bother.
however ..... if mr bank manager starts seeing hundreds of quid here and there going into your account and it keeps happeneing then questions may be asked ...if its a business you are wanting to start then better to declare it from the start rather than getting 'found out'.

cheers for the help guys its cleared it up abit for me. i know of paypal for taking payments but does that also alert you of an order? like via email..etc?
