Anyone have the Sharp Aquos 37d90u 1080p? Is it a good HDTV?

I have the Sharp Aquos 32" 1080i, and I'm very satisfied.
I'd bet that the 1080p would be pretty great.

That's good to hear. I'vew heard good things about the 37" 1080p version over in the Sharp thread on avsforums, but obviously a lot of those guys are so biased to everything Sharp.

i've got the lc45d40u. it's 1080i, but i don't have any 1080p sources to use anyway and i sit far away from the screen.
not sure i could warrant buying a 1080p set right now. prices are sure to come down in a couple years, and by then i'm sure there will be a clear winner in the 1080p dvd format wars.
but i'd heartily recommend the aquos. it's a great set and has a lot of capabilities.

Samsung has the best picture I have seen

Awesome. Thanks John. 37" is a little small for 1080p, but I heard it's great for the 360, and will be even better once the 360 supports 1080p. For all I know I don't need a 1080p set, but when it comes to electronic equipment, I'm a spare no expense kind of guy. I'd rather buy something I dont need right now than have to buy something better sooner than later.
I can get the 37d90u for 2k, which is pretty decent for a 1080p set.

The other thing with the Sharp over manyother HDTV is the 6ms response time. Most others are 8-12, so it's perfect for gaming.

i paid a little more than that for my 45", and if you are using the 360, which i'm sure you realize is not 1080p, you might just forget 1080p and use the extra to buy a larger set. i read a couple reviews viewing a blu-ray 1080p release of spiderman 2 and people couldn't really see the difference unless they were less than 4 feet from the screen. also, i think because the hd-dvd upgrade for 360 will be using vga and not hdmi, it's in effect doubling the 1080i image to acheive 1080p.
i'm all for getting the best if you've got the cash to spare, but i'd wait until there are more sources available that broadcast in 1080p. it will be much cheaper by then.

Drives me bananas when Mark Harmon calls it "hi def" in the infomercial he's slumming in for Disk Network.

let me tell something brotha
I own a 57" sony
and I just got a HD DVR last Friday
1080 is fucking stunning
granted I only have a measly 10 HD channels
DirectTV kinda of sucks in that department .......but holyshit its so hard to watch the other 400 channels now (picture quality is horrible)
the DVR was $299 but did not come with the HDMI to DVI cable which was another $110
I'am sooooo spoiled with 1080

The 360 switches to 1080p next month.
