i hate it when people call the marquee tool marching ants.

i was doing a tutorial thing the other and it kept saying "bring in the marching ants" instead of "select layer" had me confused for a second

The "marching ants" refers to a selection border, not any particular tool, including marquee.
BTW - marching ants IS the official term for that animated effect on a selection border... even Adobe uses it.
Not that I am saying it's a good term or anything...

Ants are hard-working and that's probably why I like covering up their door to their house with cement and other impenetrable liquids that turn into solids.
