i should also add that i have loved every movie christopher nolan has done till date. the man can do no wrong.

loved bale...usually hate jackman but he was decently annoying as the american.
Here's the stretch...the ending was not as good as the rest of the movie which happen to another awesome movie by the name of unbreakable...
I feel like the ending was too X files like for me...

I love Bale, Jackman, and Nolan (one of the best director's, imo), and I also liked Unbreakable.
So I'm guessing I'll love this film.

Funny thing about unbreakable...
..I also thought connected the two, haha. When I first saw unbreakable I was like, blah, but i have seen it at least 20 times now, and think it's brilliant. I wonder if i see the prestige again will i find something else, some hidden gems? I have a feeling I will, it's really dense with science, magic, etc.
I loved bowie as Tesla, but the ending was a little too much. Though just think of the system that was installed, brutal!

omg...i didn't even catch bowie as tesla..omg...maybe it was because he wants wearing pants like in labriyth or monitoring walk offs ..... i'm such a loser

yeah after i watched the movie i wished that i had a rival too. we'd outdo each other's logos and web sites. good times.

spoiler discussion (scroll down)
so did Danton know that Alfred was on stage and going to go below to find out how he did the trick on that particular night? Otherwise - his double would've appeared up on the balcony because he duplicated himself before he dropped down, and the duplicate wouldn't have the knowledge that Alfred was below to see him die...

Overall I thought the movie was decent... Bowie was stellar as Tesla. You keep thinking to yourself "it looks sort of like David Bowie but it can't be"
I didn't care for the movie's ending though... I just thought Nolan shouldn't have pulled any punches. Both Jackman's and Bale's characters through the movie were equally as messed up and the two destroyed everything in their lives. So why not have a truly tragic... tragic ending. You do get wider distribution with a PG13 movie though.

****spoiler alert!*****
jakeyj, i was thinking of the same thing. this might be a plothole but i think when he invited people to come on the stage and inspect the machine, Angier was able to see that Borden was there on stage (despite the horrendous beard).
and Angier was hoping that borden would take the bait and go downstairs to see how it's really done. and Borden fell right in the trap.

spoilers!!
yeah he must've known right? were there any clues in the movie that revealed that he did? I can't think of any, but then I wasn't looking for any either. I've got to see it again!
also, what happened to the double that he made when he did the demonstration for cutter and the other guy for the first time???

***spoilers!!***
no i don't think there was any indication of Angiers knowing that Borden was there. i am assuming that he recognized Borden because he was looking for him. that was the only reason he came back and planned for 100 shows -- just to get back at Borden so he's got to be looking out for him.
the first time he did the trick, he didn't allow anoyone downstairs except for the blind stagehands. so they must've done the same thing they did with the double every night.
