could someone help me out and tell me if i have kerned this properly?
most, if not all, the examples of kerning i've seen use serif fonts, and i'm not sure if i'm doing this right with this sans serif font. if anyone has links to useful online kerning resources, that would be appreciated, too. thanks.

"use" too tight (imho).

There's a cream that you can get at the drug store that will clear the kern right up. Helps with the itch too.
Actually, your question as to whether you kerned this properly is incomplete. Kerning refers to the space between the letters (basically) and proper kerning has more to do with intent than hard and fast rules. For more info check here:

Since you aren't going for readability as much as you are style, I'd say if it looks right for your purpose then you're done.

yeah. "use" really stands out to me.

'use' needs to be spaced more.

I guess I misunderstood the question, sorry for my pretention.

thanks guys and gal.
ninjasavant, i didn't sense any pretention, so it's all good. thanks for the link. :)

you want the visual space between the letters to be as equal as possible. use needs help, so does the space between the "l" and "a"
- gramme0
balanced negative space + balanced positive space + legibility
= kerning

much better, though i wouldn't mind seeing e-l-a tightened up a bit. But that's just me. I'm not a loose girl. :P
- mrdobolina0
haha, yep just a little bit on the "l" and "a"

you're so girly, mayo. :)
- mrdobolina0
do you call it punkin'?
- mayo0
"i am a graphic designer looking for work. i know, i know - join the club, right?"
HAHAhaaa love it, tim!

not *that* girly k-ross. I don't like clothes or shoe shopping, don't carry a purse, I prefer beer to foo-foo drinks and I'd much rather throw rocks at someone I hate than gossip about them. :P
yes, dobs. I do call it "punkin." as in,"I love the Smashing Punkins" but i say it all tough.

damn dude.
ok here goes,
"e" to close to the "s". "l" is too far from both the "a" and "e". I'd also tighten the a and b a littl ebit
