Why is it that when I copy vector art from Illustrator CS2 and paste in Photoshop, I get a crap non antialiased layer?
I can export a PSD from Illustrator, but that's more of a pain. I should be able to paste normally.
In Illustrator, under File Handling and Clipboard, I have PDF and AICB checked with Preserve Appearance and Overprints.
This is totally dorked.

you should get a dialog asking if you want to paste as a smart object, pixels, or paths. if you are not getting this, you may need to check your prefs in photoshop.

I'm getting that list, and I'm choosing pixels in this case.

could be the reason. i'd go with smart object and see if that doesn't work. it's a handy feature anyway.

and after that you must place it also, then it will get rendered

are you clicking the checkmark or hitting enter? sometimes it looks really messed up until you apply it, then it looks normal.
smart objects is the best.

Here's the thing. I'm using a trial version of Illustrator CS2. I had to in order to open some assets I got for this project. I'm using Photoshop CS1. The owners of the company won't pay for CS2.
So, long story short, I can't use the smart object.
I don't think it's a problem with the versions because I have the same problem at home with the full versions of CS2.

but if you have pasted the graphics to PS, did you hit enter key, so it places the graphics?
- CyBrain0
Yes, I definitely hit enter/commited the Transform changes.

or am i talking nonsense?
it's already 6PM, going home now
- elms0
Yes, I definitely hit enter/commited the Transform changes.

then i don't know.
sorry

Yeah, it's pretty mysterious. It's not like I haven't been using pasting from Illustrator to Photoshop since the early 90s.

it's probably a problem copying from illy cs2 to ps cs1 if that makes sense at all.
- CyBrain0
That would be a good guess, but like I said, I have the same situation with a real version of Illustrator CS2 to a real version of Photoshop CS2
