So I'm down to a "designer's salary" and eating on a budget. I stocked up on Lean Cuisine's but sometimes you need something cooked. That's when I resort to "meat & noodles." I grew up on the stuff and it takes like 10 minutes to make.
You'll need:
- ground beef (or turkey)
- forkable noodles (mac or bowtie)
- garlic salt for flavor
- few tbsp olive oil
- squirt of ketchupFirst: Boil your noodles and strain. Set aside. Heat oil in pan. While it's heating, spoon in lumps of meat and break with a fork. You can do this by hand too. You want small bits of beef.
Second: meat will start to simmer and brown. While this is happening, season with garlic salt to taste.
Third: Add precooked noodles to pan with beef. Season again with garlic salt. Stir. Put in bowl.
Finally: Add a few squirts of ketchup. Mix everything up.
DEEEEEEELICIOUS! And this should cost you about $3 or $4 bucks, and there's always leftovers.

This is a classically inspired steak recipe, with influences from both American and European cuisine.
Ingredients
Two 8 oz Sirloin Steaks
Montreal steak spice
1 cup cabernet sauvignon
1 cup balsamic vinegar
8-10 cloves of garlic
1/3 large white onion
4 cloves shallots
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
pepperProcedure
Dice the onion, shallots, and garlic. Set these aside.
Pre-heat a medium-sized saucepan to low-medium heat, and pre-heat the barbeque to high.
Throw the onions in the pan, and saute until light yellow.
Place the shallots and garlic in as well, and saute for a few minutes more. Make sure all ingredients are lightly crisped.
Pour in about 1/3 of the wine and 1/3 of the vinegar. Let this boil off at lower heat for about 5-10 minutes.
Place the steaks on the barbeque, seasoning with the montreal steak spice.
Add the rest of the wine and vinegar, grinding some fresh pepper on top. Boil off until you no longer smell the alcohol coming from the steaming wine.
Flip the steaks. You want them to be soft on the insde (cooked rare) yet quite charred on the outside, to get that charcoal flavor.
Once the sauce has gone down to about 1/3 of its original volume, take off heat.
Remove steaks from grill, and take inside.
Place the steaks on your plates, cover with the reduction, and serve!
You may wish to serve this flavorful dish with a side that would complement its strong flavors, such as asparagus, new potatoes, or roasted Brussels sprouts.Serves two people.

(Oct 16 06, 09:07)And how is this different than any other night? At least I class it up a bit...I upgrade from PS2 to XBOX360. Com'on k0na! Step it up!
And on that topic, next time replace your jerky stick with jerky nuggets. I'm sure you can splurge for it...and I don't mean into the rice bag.

Avoid Lean Cuisine and eat fresh!
Tofu, veggies (& noodles) are inexpensive with the investment of a few good stir-fry sauces/curries and sesame oil.
Make a large crockpot of soup or chili and freeze half of it for the week after.
Dine and dash, gotta try it once in your life.
