Person X walks into Store Y and buys some goods. X pays for the goods with his debit card but the transaction fails to go through. Store Y then puts the transaction through manually. The transaction appears on X's internet banking with Bank Z the next day showing the correct amount as being debited from his account under 'Available Balance'.
Two weeks pass and the money mysteriously reappears in X's account, with no correspondence from Store Y or Bank Z whatsoever.
Should X...
a) Call Store Y and explain the situation, being the honest, reliable citizen that he is...
b) Call Bank Z and try to figure out what happened to the transaction...
c) Wait another couple of weeks to see if the money is withdrawn X's account again...
d) Head out and spend all the money on goods at another store before the money has a chance to be withdrawn again?

b. get it taken out now before you forget about it. Otherwise, it may go through your account at a less convenient time.

i agree. come clean, some terrorist faction might be laundering money through your account or it might be something simple like a glitch on the bank's system. either way, i think it's better.

Terrorist Faction?

I think Person X should pay pal the money to person "V"
:o)
but serioursly, I'd keep it. I'd wait a little while and then if nothing happened, i'd spend it on porn and stuff.

same thing happend to me this summer. Got some goods in H&M in Denmark, got home and saw the money was returned. Called my back buddy to see what he ha to say, and he told me they got 20 days to claim the money, or it's yours to keep..... But he also said that it never ever happens, that they forget.... ever!
