Hello peeps. I have a question. I'm looking to take a design for a skateboard site and put behind it a fairly simple content management system so that various people can update the site with some text/photos/video etc. Are there any bolt-on CMS systems out there to buy that do this kind of thing? Has anyone any experience of buying something off-the-shelf and integrating into a website? It's a small site, not a massive corporate site so nothing too fancy. Cheers.

1) do not "buy" any sort of CMS for a projct liek this, or ever really. there are a plethora of developed CMS out there and the 'best' IMO are open sourced. here is a link to maybe get you pointed in the right direction:
http://www.cmsmatrix.org/2) yes you can do what you are asking with little pain, if any. what this will mostly depend on is your technical ability and more importantly, you knowledge you do not have technical abilty and sourcing someone who can help. sounds like you will need a fairly lightweight CMS to do what you are asking, but maybe one w/ the potential to expand/scale depening on future needs? i know many of them and am happy to give you a breakdown if you like. email me if you want.
overall, it is not hard, and usually a very good idea to manage a site this way. but please, do not buy a CMS. ;)

we use contribute totally off the shelf macromedia. I like other macromedia products but personally hate this one. I find it very limiting and kinda clunky sorry i can't tell you what to get but sometimes telling you what not too helps just as much!

or
http://wordpress.org/They've come highly receommended! Check em out. Thanks for your responses, much appreciated!

np.
drupal is cool, but VERY template intensive and you will spend mucho time modding their templates to match whatever desing you have going (and want to maintain that).
wordpress is good as well.
