Best way to learn how to light is to watch movies and observe where shadows fall (you you know where lights are). Then from experience you will learn about quality of light and what size units to use.

yeah, i have worked on a few filmsets already and my father was a cinematographer, but i don't talk to him anymore.
i have also been still-photographer on a film once..
but yeah, i am really looking at films in a visual analytical way recently, lighting, crops, perspective, motion etc.
