I just got an offer for $1500 less than I was making before I got laid off a few months ago.
The company that gave me an offer is a kick ass agency that I’m positive I will be doing great work for.
Should I ask for a counter offer or take it since I’ve only been freelancing every other week.
I’m thinking of declining the medical insurance and asking for the $3500 ayear since I’m on my wives insurance. Thoughts?

1500 a year less? did you give them a salary range before an offer was made?

$ is not important my dear friend.
Do what you love, or find something else.

shave your head, grow a soul patch then make them a counter offer. after you've given them your new number look them straight in the eye and say 'deal.... or no deal?'
