Can you settle an argument between me and another designer. We are creating an identity for a company called 'beinnovative', what is more cliched a 'light bulb' icon or a 'key/key hole'? Thanks!!

I'm going with lightbulb, but that's by a narrow margin.

well thats a tough one.... i would flip a coin to avoid tensions with my partner since they are both kinda cliche

What about a lightning bolt

how about looking through a keyhole at a lightbulb... yeah thats why they pay me the big bucks

a key icon is more cliched than a key hole. but i'll go for the lightbulb.

Between the two of those: Lightbulb
Lighting bolt (as per pepsi’s suggestion) is the King of Clichées.
Perhaps a keyhole/lightbulb hybrid with lightning bolts of creativity emanating outward?

how about a key in a socket with an electrocuted designer attached?

the keyhole idea makes me think of sex

Innovative is someone making an airplane out of drywall.

how about you do the keyhole, then ram the screw end of the lightbuld into the keyhole, slow and easy at first, then FAST... then sparks fly and the keyhole and lightbulb then share a smoke.
that is beinnovative my friend.

Out of the two, the lightbulb seems more cliche. Why not make the keyhole the shape of a lightbulb?
