my gf has a new macbook and it picks up like 20 signals, yet with my 2 yr old powerbook i see no networks.
what's the deal here? anyone know?

Reset PRAM, PMU and Repair permissions.
Worked for my powerbook which was about the same age and was having the same problem.

how strong are the 20 signals it picks up? it could be that the antennae is just a lot more powerful than your old, crappy one.

They're pretty strong. she can connect to one and get 3-4 bars when it doesn't even show up on my computer at all.

pull it out of its slot and stick it back in, make sure everything is hooked up?

oh, ive done that already. thought you were talking about something more complicated.
ah well. guess ill just wait until i get wireless installed here.
