Has anyone who's on a macbook pro had any problems with files not being readable on a pc? I'm using CS2 and saved eps, jpg and tif files for a client and they're not placing in Word. There's like a flash of a dialogue box that appears (too quick to see what it says) and then it shows that there's a bounding box on the page but nothing in it.
AAaaaannnybody have any ideas?
Please and thank you.

Yes.
Up to date macbook pro and software. Pcs can't always read my PDFs, JPGs, MOVs, PSD files and zipped files containing any type of file.

Have you found a solution for this Viro?

Do these new macs actually do anything other than run like shit and be not useful?

i'm blaming the intel chip. >:P
just to be contrary.

macs are shite utter shite.
today I was using motion (which is pish) and it unexpectedly quit over thirty times, now I'm a very calm perosn but this drove me to the absolute limit. Imagine you were a client sitting next to me you'd blow your top and take the job
elsewhere. I think computers in general or certainly modern ones are awful they are unstable and unpredictable.
I use two othe avid systems on old os 9.0 and 9.1 and they are rock solid never crash and after effectsversion 5 has never ever let me down. Something in their pursuit of progress has been left behind.

the price you pay for being on the bleeding edge

apparently, when saving from Illy, if you make sure "opaque" is checked instead of "transparent", that helps some.

If you're on CS2, try to up your RAM. it really helps keep the apps from crashing. Apparently CS3 is going to be compliant with the Intel chip or whatever was making it F up.
Did you get the glossy or glare-resistant screen?

Also if the file is CMYK ive noticed some PC clients can not open files, I have to save stuff to RGB.
Im nor even sure if Word takes
PSD / TIFF type of files. Save out as Jpeg or PDf for PC clients.

I ended up saving copies of the files in tif, jpg, eps and pdf. There were still problems. But I will check to see if I had them in CMYK. Thank you traut.

word likes BMPs

Word is a piece of turd, I'd say that would be your problem.
seriously the formatting tools were designed by dr seuss or something

I'm not arguing with you slappy, but, alas, it's something about the files :\

So i'm on the Apple discussion forum trying to get help with this and this guy who is trying to help me said that none of the files I listed (eps, jpg, tif and pdf) are not supported by Word! wtf?!?! I've never had any problems with them before. Am I losing my mind?
- acescence0
jpeg - yes (rgb and cmyk)
tif - yes (rgb and cmyk)
eps - from ps ok, doesn't like illustrator eps
pdf - no
- mayo0
Thanks acescence. I just think that guy was not only not understanding the problem, but thought that my clients and I were brand new to the whole "computer thing." He actually said that I should have the clients download "Acrobat Reader" from the internet. It's free and the best app to use with pdfs.

did you then proceed to stick something hard, sharp and burning in his eye?
:)

yeah. made a little whole on my monitor :\

I just got off the phone with Apple support. He suggested that I zip/
stuff the files before sending because it will help protect the files
from any scanning software that might corrupt the files.
