I bought a Fantom 120GB External last week from buy.com for about $69, and today saw it for about $20 less. Grab one if you need one.

Are these prices really that great? I'm seeing them elsewhere for $205... never heard of PCMALL.

tigerdirect has them for 109, pcmall for 99.

i've had a smartdisk firelite 80GB for two years. Never had one problem with it and i put EVERYTHING on it and take it everywhere. Two years ago i paid about $100 for it. the 250gb would be sweet as just a leave at home back-up.

hmm that initial link you posted seems to be a google referral link. trying to make a little loot?

this is the google ref in the link.. very basic...

re: loot- no, i just found the link searching google. suprised that the sale is still going on.
re: smartdisk- those firelight drives rule. i wish they made large bus-powered drives more. totally worth the extra money
re: pcmall- probably the 3rd largest online retailer of computer shite. behind amazon and tiger- and you have never heard of it?!? i know so many orgs that have accounts there not even funny. if they are cheaper now, by all means get them there. they are all the same as LaCie controls manu. of their hardware.

i have a 120gb lacie triple interface. i knocked it off a couple of times by accident, but still no problem. been using it for a year.

new spinoff from RAID i thinkseems like a solid piece of metal.

you are getting horrible reviews of LaCie at NewEgg... People complain that the drives are poorly designed without proper ventilation (probable cause for drive failure). Also it seems that Lacie is just putting every other company's (WD, Segate, Maxtor) HD into their cool-looking case.
