I think you can still have a loose and flowing design, yet still be legible.

At first, I was concerned about it legibility too. But really what I like is the mark it makes. Will stand out from other boring logos people have on there boards.

i like the colors, but can't read the damn thing.

I like the color & handwriting style, but there are at least two different styles to the letters that makes the thing look a bit gackled in my opinion. I say stick to the cursive style you've got going on in the right logo in the capital 'M'.
