Illy image not clear?

So I have this small logo that's to go on the spine of a DVD. It's an older file that I didn't create, and it looks to be an image that was once a jpeg, that has been brought into a eps file. When I insert it into Quark (yes, I'm still using Quark) everything's good and nice and transparent. But when I print, the background shows up as white, creating a rectangle with the logo in the center. Again, it looks like this was a jpeg, and I can't expand or do anything helpful.
Anyone know what's going on?

I would contact the company, and get a correct eps file, since the one you have is apparently not an eps.
In the meantime- start tracing.

Thanks...I did just that. Actually, it's the 24 logo I needed from the show, and it's pretty easy to recreate. But I sent an e-mail for the real one.

its most likely an embedded image in Illy, so not vector and therefore not transparent. you could force it into PS, then clip, and re-import to quark

it's those people that save raster images as eps's. fuck them.
