anyone use it? was thinking of setting up an old pc with it, but wondering if it's worth it before i spring for some capture cards.

just bought a snapstream firefly remote, very cool. Currently I am just using Hauppauge WinTV2000. Works great, I can record from my pc and stream it out to the D-Link Media Lounge hooked up to my tv and stereo in the living room. Beyond tv is cool though, you can set it up to stream tv to laptops and other things on your network. Wish it worked with the PSP.

yeah, i was actually going to get a couple of the hauppauge cards to capture the video, which comes with that software, eh? maybe i'll give that a shot first and see how it works.
my flatmate just set up myth tv, but it looks like a super pain in the ass getting it to work flawlessly. he's always sitting on the floor in front of the tv with a keyboard grumbling about fucking linux this and that.

yeah, I would just go with beyondtv or even with wintv 2000 that comes with those cards you wanted to use. You can just use http://www.titantv.com/ to setup recordings and shit. A great thing to do in conjunction with this is setup some bittorrent rss feeds from http://www.torrentspy.com/ of shows you want to download and have everything dump into the same folder on your network and then have that folder shared on the network or indexed by beyondtv.

no problem, let me know what you end up setting up. I am messing with http://www.tversity.com/ it works with the D-Link Medialounge and the PSP. Share your content over the internet from your home server. I want to set this up soon but have to configure my router to do so.
