Digital SLR. Canon 400D?

Any thoughts on this one? Also considering the Canon 30D or Nikon D80...

I don't think the 30D has much to offer over the 400D except for spot metering.

Spot metering is kind of important. :)
This is unless you like letting the camera make all of your decisions for you. Might as well just use any old camera on Auto then....

I guess, I am not a big photographer, but is spot metering really that needed? I always thought it does special situations where you got big dark or white back background areas so I would imagine you could juste under or overexpose a step in those situations.

(Sep 15 06, 13:15)No. But pentax has best support for their old manual lenses, alongside screw-on m42's. It meters light and confirms focus with them - that's one of the reasons I've been buying their cameras
