Did any of you buy this little thing? It looks pretty cool, and I'm wondering if it works well.
Do you know if you can use it with other shoe brands?

John Mayer wore a pait of the shoes on stage one night here are the results:
--------------------------
Just got the new Nike Plus iPod kit (not linking to billion dollar companies, sorry) and the little Don Herbert in me wondered: just how much does a singer-songwriter exert himself on stage? After a 90 minute set, here are the results.
Distance: .54 mi - this is probably due to my crazy foot dance setting the sensor off. I believe Slash in G'n'R circa 1990 could have actually logged this distance.
Time: 1:32'35"
Pace: 2:50'54"/mi
Calories: 75 - I gotta think this is a bit low. I do a lot of squeezing up there that's not accounted for.
This thing should come with a sensor to tell you how many days it lays under a pile of sweatshirts for. I'm setting a personal goal of pretty much all the time.

It works pretty bad with my rainbow double stacks
be carefull!!

i suppose if you dug out a little hole under your insert it would work with any shoe.
- Soler0
you could put it in your sock and it would work with any shoe.
i have it and love it. i bought the shoe sthough

i've been using it since it came out and i am very impressed. it is pretty much seamless and very easy to use. i've found it to be pretty accurate as well. i calibrated about a month ago and haven't noticed a change in my distances running a pretty consistent route.
of course if you are not a somewhat serious runner, it's probably not worth it.
i saw this thing for non nike+ shoes, don't know how well it works though. http://www.uncrate.com/men/gear/…

does it work with the new Nano?
- fooler0
Also...I wonder how you would calibrate it to work with a bike.

Thank you! I was wondering about the shoes because I just bought a new pair of Asics and I don't really want to buy a new pair just to use it.
johndiggity...thanks for the link. I might try it.

I've got one and have used it for the past month. Probably different for everyone but for me it really does help motivate me to keep running and makes it a lot more fun. I ordered a pair on the nike + shoes from the internet and when they arrived they were the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever owned (they had way high arches) but is probably not hte same with all the shoes. Following tips on the web I just cut a slit in my old Nike's tongue and shoved the little thingy in there and it works with astounding accuracy- its really not worth buying new shoes for.

whatever you do, don't buy the nike armband, there's no window on it to see the ipod screen. use the apple one and cut a slit in the bottom for the transponder.

thats wat I did johndiggity- pretty dope.

does this thing ONLY work with a nano?
i'd get one if i could use it with my new ipod video.
- johndiggity0
it's nano only as far as i know.
- Mattiadesign0
yeah, I believe it's only for the nano. Probably because of its size.
- MIJA0
the nano's run on a different version of the ipod software and it needs it to work.
I just got some shoes and the kit and seems to work pretty well. I don't know how it can accurately track the miles. It never asked for a height option just weight.
She used it on a treadmill the other night and it was off a bit. I need to look into calibratiing it for her.

I'm fat and lazy, but my daughter is an elite runner. I bought her one and shoe LOVES it. She has totally upped her distance and has made her evening workouts much more fun.
She hacked a little pouch out of some nylon and velcro and it works great.
