hey guys, I know cosmo started asking you guys to all list the wishlist and standards you would like in a cms.
However, since it doesn't seem to be around, and can't get a hold of cosmoman..
would you mind emailing the suggestions to me? its a bit difficult to copy and paste all the collected suggestions from here constantly and honestly i don't have enough time to build a form to collect at the moment.
This project has been on my mind for a while, and its almost a beta version for me to build and would be more than happy to make it available for free as well, because I know it helps.
I posted a blog about it on my blog site with some detaisl if you want to read.
Also let me know if you would be interested in helping.
Thanks all.

what flavor you building off of john? or is it truly a from scratch job? i have some resources for you if you are still at the deciding point if you want them

thanks. it's being based off an open-source one for now, website baker. we have been developing a ton of new modules and updates for it.
i'm not a programmer by any stretch, so a lot of what our development team is saying is completely forieign to me, but i can pass any links on to them.

quite honestly I don't think the world needs another custom cms script..what it needs is a freeware css compliant shopping cart. And a good one.

sure thing. it is a delicate road to go down sometimes. as a designer, i have chosen to get involved with the process as much as i can as it has really helped my PM skills and account lead role(s).
baker is a good up-coming source i think. i have heard positive feedback on the data model, etc so it should be a growing community; which is where you leverage the power of OS most of course.
here is the CMS in v2.0 my company authored:

(temp site/page for it)much diifferent than 99.9% of them out there as there is 100% seperation of data and display across the board. allows for unlimited front-end customization, but then that is also the other edge to that sword- there is no code base to step off from in design. changes pretty quick once you develop a style or series of sites that clients like. is a LAMP cms to boot so it's abilities are pretty well documented. it was used on several very large projects and very, very small ones- this is a nice feature of it's data model.
anyway, good luck.

because this thread obviously was so popular, it was only inevitable for me to resurrect it.
