Hey everybody, I work in a corporate enviroment and I was told that I am up for a new computer. I am a designer and need good reasons why I should get a mac (instead of staying in the corporate pc environment). I came up with a list, but was wondering if anyone had a good reason so that I can get the IT Dept. to let me make the switch.

Sounds like if you've got a PC centric environment you'll be asking too much. There are no this mac can do something that this pc can't do arguments that are viable. Cross platform support with file servers and the like is just another hurdle that IT will dig their heels in on. Considering the corporate environment missive i'd say you're fighting a losing battle.

"Amazing" is all I can say to that Wendell response.
What was the question again?

Well what is your list?
Do you use Macs regularly?
Do you just want a Mac to be "designery"?
Can you get on their network with a non-PC?
I'd make a joke about Mac Addresses, but I have a feeling it'd be falling on deaf ears, haha.

Jesus Christ, I didn't even read Wendell's post, hahaha.
That is actually hilarious though, to write Wen-dell, on your computer.
... And getting Black Meat at 1 in the morning.

we are on a windows server, so that wouldn't be a problem.

^ what Normal said.
If they're all PC - you should be PC too. Just think of font licensing alone... never mind network and software management.
imo, anyway.

there is one other person in this company that has a mac....the ceo. I figured if i could get it, i could live most of my world on the xp side until the rest of the department switches and leopard comes out...

I love OSx but work on a PC everyday, it's just the OSYeah, i know it makes you more happy, but, at the end of the day it's just a tool

I feel your pain. I've been using a pentium 4, Photoshop 6 in russian and fireworks in place of Illustrator for 2 years.
I gave my employer a long list of reasons to switch, but still no change.

There are no reasons other than it'll match your iPod for about 48 seconds till release a new one.

you can stash a lot of weed inside it
it's a great paperweight when a new one comes out

Haha.. there isn't really a good reason other than safari testing and virus-free environment.. Do you do video editing?
Adobe apps run slower so far (sometimes crashing) on the new macs..Try "I'd like a nice os"

I'm sure all mac users were the type of kids to cry and kick and scream when their mums didn't let them have sherbet dips and a comic book. I expect they all wore their mums clothes too - regardless of the fact that they were boys...

Most PC's are made out of your mums clothes and sherbert dips!
