i have a PDF of a book project a freelancer did in indesign but deleted the .indd for.
is there any way to make an .indd from a .pdf so i can edit this bitch and continue the project?

unfortunately, I don't think there is.

open each page individually in illustrator?

depending on the edits, if the fonts are embedded, you may be able to just do it in Acrobat with advanced editing toolbar?

PitStop
Will give you a LOT of control over PDFs. Getting it back into InDesign will take time though.
There is no easy way - but you aren't locked out of editing the file.

hate to say..
but unless its just simple typos,
you're fcked.

You wouldn't believe the control you have over a PDF file =)
Even with just Acrobat you can go to the advanced editing tools and start deleting objects, copying them, etc. So you could literally take out whatever elements you needed to (saving several versions or "layers") and import them into InDesign one by one.
It's a pain in the arse, again, PitStop will make things easier.
But you're not out of luck.
