What dod you do to get ready?

  I'm going to be doing a companies full identity (name, logo, collateral etc...) but, I don't have much experience taking this sort of thing from start to finish. So, I call on NT to impart their vast knowledge and experience upon me.
  Any advice, links etc... you can offer would be great.

  What sort of questions do you ask to get a feel for their objectives?

  How do you begin to develop the overall look and feel and formulize it so it can be easily applied to whatever your working on?

  etc...
  I know there is no set way but I'm curious about others methods.
