SAN DIEGO, California (AP) -- A television reporter investigating a suspected real estate scam was attacked by a woman and her husband, who punched and tackled him as a cameraman videotaped the incident.
Reporter John Mattes of Fox 6 News said he was treated for cracked ribs, bite wounds and cuts to his face after the confrontation Tuesday. The couple, identified by authorities as Assad "Sam" Suleiman, 36, and his wife, Rosa Amelia Barraza, 33, were arrested.
"He had his fingers in my eye socket. He was ripping my face apart. He was pulling my ears. He was biting," Mattes told NBC's "Today" show Thursday. "It was horrifying, and it felt pretty bad."

I worked with John Mattes. He is a Fox 6 News reporter in San Diego, and I worked there for 4 years. He's a very nice guy and very professional.
However I think all the news investigators risk it all the time.

yowch, I'd figure these guys have a lot of security when doing investigative reports. If people are willing to break the law for one thing then I would only expect for them to display what that video showed.

Looks like being a reporter really is risky business.

she probably gave him some afternoon delight in return for becoming famous, little did she know he was a news reporter...

Like sheeps wool?
I felt bad for him.
But what do us behind the lens do?
I have been in situations at parties and even weddings where some outrageous BS happens. It feels like every fight is unfair today.
My question is... Do you stay for the footage or do you go in there and get your hands dirty?
My boy R.Greene reminded me this morning that sometimes you have to use that cats paw to get the fish out the fire.
I woulda had that black dude give his ass a southpaw uppercut.
San Diego is getting bad.
