i've heard of certain versions of the OS causing fans to run faster / more frequently than they should, worth looking into.

loud like a whirrrr sound from the motor working, or loud like the fan is working extra hard?
you might want to open the case and shoot some air onto the fan and clean it off. dust gets in there and gums up the motor.
does the thing run really hot?

are you running 10.3.8?

I'm 90%sure it is 10.3.8 and it stay in HIGH turbine fan mode fo the whole time and even after shutdown.
like i said i have to press the power button even after I've shut down, just to turn the fan off.
how do i change it to the 10.3.7 or.3.4 or what ever?

you can go up to 10.3.9. just open system prefs and run software update, or d/l it here:

I bought a used g5 imac for cheap cheap when the new intels came out.
The fan buzzes like a fridge.
Annoying until you get used to it or play some tunes.
