the leading for your times seem pretty far apart, and perhaps a bit too close to the design elements.

when it was loading up i thought this looks cool, but then i thought where is the rest of it. it's tiny for a flyer.
if you have the rest of the people on file i would use more of that. also, the type is very small with the times and the record labels listed. i like the typeface you used for the title and the date.

Ross
i think it needs something more. more texture, larger image. not crazy about the font or how everything is centered.
- traut0
ross. maybe add some distress or texture to the background.

thanks for the thoughts the flyer is being done for free basically im printing it for the band and everything, so im doing them 2 up on 11x17 in bw on a card stock i need to do something with the times+locations
- Tara0
traut,
if it's 11x17 those proportions aren't right. unless the bottom half isn't loading up for me.
- Tara0
my bad, i didn't read correctly.
i see now.
i still think it's too long and skinny.
5.5 x 17 is huge for a flyer
what about printing 4 on a page:
5.5x8.5 or 6 on a page.

get rid of the faces, move the tron to below the gengis and pop the graphic and information to the right of tron.

ewhy not just do it on xerox then?

Nice. Are you familiar with Justin Kay's work? Particularly his "Black Label" type design?

Sorry, but your flyer sucks. Have you ever heard Genghis Tron's music? That flyer in no way remotely even expresses it. Stop trying to do whats "cool" and think about what you are designing for. There are so many things about the music of the band that could easily translate into a very cool flyer that would actually want to make someone go see their show. You have not stumbled upon any.
- traut0
TaraTara, Its not really a handout type flyer its going to be on doors + walls in bars / etc
I probably will move the Tron over i played around with that before but ill probably go back to that, thanks.
Bauts, I didnt recognize the name of justin kay right away but ya industrial organic, i see what you mean about the blacklabel logo, ya were both using elements of a font from emigre,
Fresnobob, Thanks. But just because there harsh and aggressive electro-screamo noise doesnt mean the design has to represent that, have you seen there album art / e.p artwork ?

I had not untill you mentioned, however, the album cover on their website is much more appropriate than your flyer. It has a few things that definately speak of the group. The other thing is that an album cover is not a flyer. A flyer has the specific purpose of bringing people to the show... Ok, simply, if I saw that flyer, i would not want to go see the show at all. It has the aesthetic of some cheap, well, as you say "screamo" group. If I had however instead of viewing your flyer, heard a bit of the band's music I would be much more likely to go. The band has some unique things about it, the flyer has none.

regard fresnobob,
No need to give the guy such a hard time. A critique doesn't need to be so harsh, he's obviously open to hearing suggestions.
