bastard cosmo hijacked my thread ;)
i look forward to working on it... gonna be a blast... and some tangible positivity coming from collaboration of NT peeps...
not that there hasn't before... just more of it is always warranted

i am interested in being involved... if i have time.
i am actually in the process of making a cms right now for a client.
- akoni0
shall I make a form to list the people who want to get involved and what skills that they can contribute? I would do it right now, however not able to get online other than email and browser...so thought i would ask first.

Please be clear about your suggestions, like what does image handling mean? and form handling mean?
- TheBlueOne0
So, um is it done yet? I need it for a project...
:)

a search with in region say a set of pages for catagories , a faq module, where one can just build a faq on the fly , a convert to pdf option for events , a join mail list form, to quickly build a mail list for newsletters and such

i hate to the 'that guy' here, but every single one of the features that are listed on the page adnan created (you rule by the way for that one duder) can be handled be default w/ Plone.
just out of curiosity cosmo (as i know we have had several CMS discussions in the past), you thinking about building this on a LAMP config? if so, why not consider taking these suggestions and have everyone who wants to contribute join an established project already going? might save a lot of 1's and 0's writing... ;)
and if your are *not* going w/ LAMP, what are you thinking?
- madirish0
dammit. just saw the other thread. i am suprised that other platforms have not been mentioned.
to those listing LAMP, any particular reason(s) for that?
- akoni0
i haven't really looked into lamp...what are its advantages... features....etc.
- ender790
can i add "easy installation" to the list?
- akoni0
i think someone did already
- akoni0
nevermind...i just realized what LAMP stood for...
duh
sorry its "monday"

Linux
Apache
MySQL
PHPLAMP
madirish - Why not use LAMP? Much better peer support than any other development base, and if cosmo wants any kind of real help, then he will struggle to find it here if he goes any other route. Plus - why would you not want to support open source?

Dont know if this one has been posted, but a template select for each post.
example: if you wanted to make an annocement in a new post coloumb so you need it to stand out, so you can create a different template for an alert or something?
- madirish0
hey moth! long time no CMS chat, eh? ;)
no, no- i must have come across incorrectly here from what i intended. i am definitly "pro-LAMP" 100% no question there. i was meerly asking if cosmo was only considering using that platform over others..... but then saw his post in the 'other' cms thread and it answered my question- he is in fact open to other avenue's. i just remember him being a big php/mysql person so hence why i brought it up.
to answer the other question though, i think there are a multitude of reasons to *not* use LAMP, they are all considerations and factors included in discovery to arrive upon the best solution given the definition and scope of the task at hand. being a designer who comes to solutions from a 'technology agnostic' position, i do not simply feel to go with tech. X because we have before when there could be better solution. as you know well, there are many, many other OS platforms and flavor combo's available that are as robust as a true LAMP one, but have different strengths and benefits. Off the top i can think that a Java, ZOPE, or python platform could be mighty good.... but maybe that is just the designer in me talking... ;)
- rson0
what are you writing it in?
- akoni0
more than likely php and mysql, since that seems to be the majority. I originally wanted to write it in a flex environment with a cfr running the backbone...
however I may do that just for my pure enjoyment ;)

wheres the page he posted for features....I chked it and it wasnt up....dont know if these are repeats but here it goes...
create style tags...like if I wanted a bold, italic h1 header... I could just say [newsHeader] or something and set up some styles within the cms.
multiple users with permissions...
check in-check out or locking capabilities of different pages that are created... only master users can lock items...
check basecamp they have good permission settings.....
