He's a self promoter sure, but 'shameless' and 'ego-driven' is a matter of opinion. It's hard to promote something subtley and modestly. If your proud of your work and talk it up to promote it, I guess you can see it that way. An educated constructive critique of his work, bad or good, isn't hate. The 'YAAAAWWWWNs' are kinda. Totally useless posts.

I think he knows hes gonna evolve his work, but until all of you have those names on your folio, I would probably just shut the fuck up and get better, waste of time to tell someone their work is overated and boring, when he does nike, Im not a fan of the style, but being a fan and having respect for someones shit is a diff story, I dont know him, never met him, is he some sort of gigantic dickhead? Is that why people shit on him, or are you just hating oxygen thieves?
- shn0
yes, i agree, respect is key.

bleh who gives a fuck, the yaaawn was more in relation to the future content of this thread, which seems rather justified now. For some reason apparently you say people just want to hate on chuck, it seems that crit is 'hating' with chuck, so I guess we are only allowed to say "AWESOME DUDE" or some suitably superficial shite, sorry, but if this is about hipsters in hecox dunks sucking ass then I guess I came to the wrong party. I mean seriously - who is 'shitting on him' WTF? Nobody, this is peurile.

'He's a self promoter sure, but 'shameless' and 'ego-driven' is a matter of opinion.'
I guess you never saw the 'GODLIKE' banner he had last year. I don't have any more time to sit around and BS about Mr. Anderson. Not worth my time. We all have our opinions and this board has always been split pretty evenly when it comes to NP.
Rock on Chuck, I do dig some of your work.

nt trolls will always find a way to put down someone's work. It's pretty sad that's what they do to feel better about themselves...
- onewhoslaps0
nt = for the most part - a bunch of haters that don't get top notch clients like he does. making fun of an acomplished artists style is part of the their pathetic gig.

Technically, Chuck's work is fantastic. There is not a doubt in my mind that he does not know what he is doing, especially for being self taught.
That being said, I stand by my opinions concerning his work.
Anyone can master photoshop or illustrator, yet, in the end, they are just tools, like a pencil or an exact-o knife.
However, if one's work cannot evolve past the mastery of a tool, and actually allow for any sort of depth or thought provoking, one is sunk.
I am not saying that he has failed out right. He has an impressive client list, no doubt. But if he really wants to evolve, and have his work be just as forward thinking and impressive (read: not nostalgic) two years or twenty years down the road, then he needs to take that next step are start thinking beyond style.

Also, the idea that big name clients leads to good work silly at best.
The quality of work is not just driven by the designer, but the project and those working for the client.
What should be good projects can quickly be sank by a middle manager or funds randomly being withdrawn by the company.
Chuck is quite lucky that his experiences with people like Nike and Nylon have been so open and willing to let him do what he wants.
Not all clients/projects are as fun as his...

You talk too much, go design

not a fan of the kiddie sketchbook style illustrations, but that's just personal preference.
i dunno, if i was going to buy a book of work, i certainly wouldn't want a page to be that less than jake album cover. seems like books should be 100% new and original for-that-purpose sort of thing.
