advice to you:
run.if you can't, then get paid up front.

actually that's exactly what i was thinking.. its real shady to begin with because i'm helping my friend out (who is a promoter :/ ) and there's no real professional or official binding between me and the client.. but i was looking for something simple i could throw together just for my buddy

If you're into the club city, barter for alcohol/admission.. If not, limit your time and save emails. In case they try to rip off the design.
I worked on a similar project and it went no where....

Are you desperate for work?
If not, don't take on the project. Most club/club ownners are shady pricks who don't like to pay service providers.

no no dont get the wrong idea. original post was just asking for some examples of some interesting nightclub websites. a close buddy of mine just asked if i could throw one together and i was just interested in seeing what i could do with it.. no actual client work or anything .. just wondering if anybody has any good links off the top of their heads

start there. you'll find good, bad and defintely ugly.
that way you can see what works and what doesn't.

club owners are just as sleezy as a lot of other clients. Just follow the rules:
• draw up a contract to protect yourself
• get paid "x-amount" up front
• logos and site design remain your property until you sign the rights over. This occurs when you receive finl paymentI've done a lot of club work out here in Vegas for just over 5 years now. There's the good, the bad, and the ugly just like any other industry

so funny hearing the collective "nooooooooooo" here - ptomoters are the most annoying clients I've ever had and the money is shite, usually never get the chance to do anything like the ultra cool creative 'work for the folio' you reckon you should too.
Every once in a while you get a really good one, but christ, I have lost friends over these jobs more than once. never again.
