Has anyone watched this show?
Let me rephrase: Has anyone watched this show and not puked all over themselves?http://www.al.com/news/birmingha…
http://www.mtv.com/ontv/dyn/2_a_…High school football coaches like this one make me sick. They are among some of the most misguided, sad, pathetic men alive in America.
I've only seen the first episode, but man, it brought me back to my year of freshman high school football. Trying to motivate everyone to go to the playoffs...
The coaches then would tell you "there's no greater feeling in the world than walking down the same tunnel at Texas Stadium where Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, and Emmit Smith walk down."
That's when I knew I was in te wrong place. Men with wives, and kids telling you that walking down a tunnel is a greater feeling than watching their children be born.

i never played football but in high school all four years they had two a days like that.
everyone in our conference did. it's common, but a bit over the top.

It's not the two a days... it's the mentality of the coaches.
And even though I'm religious and grew up that way, I cannot stand mass use of religion on people who may or may not be religious.
A locker room pre-game talk is not the place to summon Jesus for the greater good of the players. I don't know how to explain it really, but that always irks me. There's no way that 80 players or what have you all believe in God and accept what the coach is thrusting upon them.

I got kicked out of JV Football because I shoulder checked the coach into a wall - he had my friend by the face mask and was dragging him into the locker room because he dropped his fourth pass in a row after the coach told him that he better not. Needless to say he let him go. I could have killed that prick.

Been there, done that. But let me be honest with you... While walking down a tunnel isn't really that great of a feeling, being on the field with thousands of people in the stands on their feet goin wild right after you hit a guy out of his fuckin cleats is an amazing feeling. The sport is insane and the friendships that you make whil on the team will last you a lifetime (if you are made for life of football). Playing ball and having children are two differnet feelings. Kind of like having children gave my life meaning, while playing football gave me a meaning to live. It really was that deep for me.
Back to the MTV thing; fuck that channel. I haven't watched the show, but I can only imagine what it's like.
And fuck those kids. I did 3 weeks of 3 a days in college my senior year. Playing ball does not make you a man.

Although i played at and coach at a catholic high school the religious prayer in that episode did make me sick. I seriously wanted to throw up.
Yeah the coach in that show is a jackass. Typical win at all costs mentality with no regard for the real things that football and teamwork can teach you when you have the right coaches and role models there.
