Just been notified by a client they only accept mpeg2 and not divx.
Do you have to buy Mpeg2 or is it free somewhere?
Cheers,

Anyone know what I'm on about

i know you can export MPG2 from QuickTime.
Render your movie, open in QT and export as MPG2.
hope that helps.

Burn them a DVD
I also wasn't aware qtime exported an mpg2.......

or export it as full quality/animation. then use sorenson squeeze (or similar) to compress to MPEG2 (or any other fomat u wish.
- mikeim0
specifically, QT Pro will allow you to export as MPG2.
- chossy0
I can't find it :(

you can save m2v files from final cut - export through compressor
- chossy0
Reason being that my system is the new final cut studio therefore I never had that option in the first place apparently it is an older version of quicktime that includes this export option, somehow I find it strange that they didn't include it in updates as it's a pain having to open either compressor or final cut to simply export a ruddy hingmy and that >:| rant over and out yo! :D

Thanks for the feedback on this.
Mpeg2 is used by dvd aint it?
I can sort of understand it's accosiation with Quicktime, even more so since on my mac at home mpeg2 format is an option you can render in. But on my PC at work, no such look. I found a few sites that sell Mpeg2 encoders.

cleaner is $600, not really cheap.
yes, mpeg2 is used for dvds. if you're on windows, it looks like AE should be able to import/export mpeg2, though not on a mac.

yea it's a pain for sure chossy i can't understand why they took it out. we used to have an old OS9 piece of software called MPEG power professional that did it but when we upgraded we lost it. garrrrrr i just had to make an m2v just then and i have to book out an edit suite now just to do it! pain in the aaaaaaaaaaaaarse. but it just compressed a file that was 271 mg to 5.1 mg! amazing! how does it work i wonder?
- chossy0
buggered if I know vespa perhaps it gets wrid of all the dodgy edits I make :/ he he only joking I rule.
I have never figured the whole mpg2 thing out anyway I always get two files when I try it I get one video m2v and then some audio file separatley :/ I just tell them to fuck off when they ask for them any way.
CLIENT : "Hey Ross man can we get an mpg thingy ma ig from you please"
ME : "Fuck Off"
CLIENT : "Ok cheers anyway bud, see you next week for our other edit"
ME : "Gyeah Boyeeee"
