Just grab their entire page source and start eliminating stuff. until you get it down to what you need. Sometimes your missing small, debugging can be a pain
I Notice they use onClick in all there samples. maybe try that instead of onmouseover until you get it working.

ace, effects.js was not uploaded, but it did not work offline either..
thx i uploaded all the scripts now.btw. no need to link to all these js files, the scriptaculous js will load all the other js files in automatically..

Thanks, man, I know it's no crazy AJAXed Gucci.com, but I appreciate it.
I am not sure that this sort of javascript effects are "only" used for functionality, but I try to lean that way and the technology does lend itself nicely to cleaner more functional implementations (particularly in Rails).
I think it makes a lot of sense for a shopping cart.
