i've played guitar on and off since i was about 14 or 15 (and i'm 34 now)
not terribly talented at it..but i enjoy it...
was never very good at learing other folks songs...can play a few pink floyd tunes type of thing, a few songs here and there, but mostly i picked it up because i wanted to write my own tunes..
used to play drums when i was really young..from about grade 3 or 4 till i was 14 or so...grade 9 i guess....so that helped create a strong sense of rythem...but since i lived out in the country, there wasn't a lot of people to jam with..thats why i switched to guitar...

There are songs in the music section, and we're starting work on our first ep in September. We're frequently compared to The Cure, a bit of Sunny Day Real Estate, a bit of The Catherine Wheel, and maybe a bit of Doves.
My gear:
Guitars:
Fender Telecaster (Mexican)
92 Fender Strat
58 Danelectro U2 Reissue
Epiphone PR5 Elec-AcousticAmps:
2 Fender Pro 185 solid state amps, 185 watts used in stereo through chorus pedal - wouldn't trade these amps for much, they were made in the late 80s and flat out rule.
1 Vox tube practice amp at home
1 Crate Vintage Club 30 reissue amp awaiting repairEffects:
Boss Chorus, Flanger, Phaser and tuner pedal
Boss DD20 multi Delay pedal (the absolute holy grail of delay pedals)

vintage MXR distortion pedal
DOD digital delay pedal

I push squared buttons on samplers, rotate knobs on synthetizers, move faders on mixing boards, and slide fingers on vector pads.

Wow. well, just as long as you can slice of an ear and pour gasoline on it. God that scene is brutal.

I used to play the saxophone, piano and the drums, however, I never really continued any of them.
My music teacher refused to continue my saxophone lessons as I was a major disturbance in the regular music class and didn't feel I was taking it seriously (I was in 4th grade).
The drums, I just kind of stopped but always kept banging on lunch tables and stuff to this day.
And as for the piano, my mother always kind of wish I kept up with it as she would always say that if she had my freakishly large hands as a child with the ability to hit far away keys with my distance from thumb to pinky finger would have made for a good piano player.
I know enough to get by in a lot of things at life but I've never applied myself to actually "master" anything.
Jack of All Trades, Master of None. :X

oh gee willickers i didnt know that band was being played on all those michael madsen threads...
and geez its a wonder i dont know about this guy, i mean, look at all the movies he's made that relate to my life!

I agree, flavor. Also, I'm not motivated enough to practice all the time, but I do regret not continuing with some things.

well to go on that tangent for th fck of it, i played basketball got mvp in the community league, thus school leagues dont go far less they want you to be in nba and see you as a college prospect ect. money...so it didnt work out for me, did karate / taekwondo got a black belt , stopped, started roller skating, if you dont know on the east coast, roller skating is very big in the black community, anyway, didnt see myself doing that because of reality reasons, like didnt see how i could make a living off it, played ping pong, the boys club had tournerment we won, i played my high school, won! beat teachers and all, stopped...
one thing that stuck, because i believe its your soul, and only certain one's can tap into it, my 'poppop' boise lowery, who has taught the likes of duke ellington and clifford brown, and again if you didnt know, jazz started in 3 places so to say, as venue's ny, no and de wilmington to be specific - boise was one of those legends, he also taught lucky at a point and time... but me
no matter how much he taught me music, the only things i would do, was tap dance, which i never 'proffessionally learned' i just did what i saw sammy mike and james do, - skat, or beebop - which is jazz form of beatboxing or whatever, and played the same 2 notes on this casio keyboard, so he still tried to teach me writing music, and i understand somewhat, but i really caught the teaching of frederick douglas and sojournor truth he did because he saw that i wasnt tryna pick up those drum sticks or olay on that beautiful piano he had in the basement... nor the sax in the corner ect.
