as it looks to close to "song" I would move the point where the line start.
which would break the shape.

You have a good idea... Maybe try to make it more "classic" looking. It seems dissconnected from the typography as it is now because the image is so "new" looking with all the fancy angles and rounded corners, so maybe try to make the logo mark something more in that direction...

yeah, it's sufficiently not-song at this point, but it seems like you've lost the 'connection' aspect of the design. now it seems like the lines are dividing something whole instead of bringing two points/people/ideas together.
I'd try pushing the original/song approach so that it's unique and infringement-safe. conceptually it was better, but the execution needs to unique

Yup, better. I really like the green and serif font. I never notice the text, but when you do it stands out.

I had a similar problem with a much less-known logo design...we were able to push it through as the industries and geographic regions never cross paths, but this kind of thing is becoming harder and harder to avoid.
had you presented this yet? internally or to the client?
anyway, this is your chance to push the very successful song logo (although the airline's success is another matter) to a new cooler place. stick with the right concept, and the right mark will come through in the end.

ya know...i loved that first version, thought it was an extreemly well done logo..
then i saw song and thought, damn ...that sucks...all that hard work and now Kiko has to start from scratch..then i saw your latest version, and thought...ya know...i think may like that one even more..
