Is this Harlem as you who hasn't been to NY thinks of it, or is it safe for a small blonde girl to walk home alone at night?

I dunno sweetheart, Harlem has been cleaned up so much in the past 15 - 20 years and is a tourist mecca, but still don't know if I'd recommend moving there...
How about Williamsburg?

Harlem is fine. In fact almost anywhere in NY is fine.

i'd walk around there, but i wouldn't like my girlfriend to alone, though a little danger would be preferrable to an annoying commute. but that's just my laziness talking.

Yeah you don't get carried off unless you're an 18 year old girl from NJ in a minidress drunk out of her skull walking along the West side highway at 3am alone...other than that you're fine...

I much prefer it because on the amount of parkland there is up here. Apts are still pretty cheap by NY standards but it is becoming a very popular hood now.

I have a coworker who lives on 109st and 2nd ave, and when I go there, there's usually cops around. Never had anything happen to me day or night, but it's not the greatest.
